“But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne.  All the nations will be gathered in his presence, and he will separate the people as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goatsHe will place the sheep at his right hand and the goats at his left. Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world.  For I was hungry, and you fed me.  I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink.  I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home.  I was naked, and you gave me clothing.  I was sick, and you cared for me.  I was in prison, and you visited me.’ Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink?  Or a stranger and show you hospitality?  Or naked and give you clothing?  When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’  And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’  Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons.  For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me.  I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink.  I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home.  I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing.  I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’  Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’  And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’  And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.”  (Matthew 25:31-46)

Remember those in prison, as if you were there yourself.  Remember also those being mistreated, as if you felt their pain in your own bodies.” (Hebrews 13:3)

For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12)

Prison is a place where people are often forgotten.  The people behind prison bars, especially in America, have often done things so atrocious they have been justly judged as unfit for society. They are considered dangerous, often exhibiting extreme or perverted ideals, views, and behavior, and have been convicted of stealing, killing and destroying.

Angry, fearful, proud, jealous, murderous hearts and minds are the most opportune breeding ground for extremist ideals, especially ideals that take advantage of these weaknesses so that the criminal can be manipulated and encouraged to steal, kill and destroy again in the name of something bigger than himself.

Radical Islamists are recruiting angry, fearful, proud, jealous, murderous men from America’s prisons.  The radical Islamists are visiting these men in prison, letting them know they are not forgotten, that Allah remembers them and they can please Allah and redeem themselves of their sins by doing work for Allah.  The prisoners, needing purpose in their lives, are eager to be embraced, praised and loved.  How amazed are they then, that they can belong to something that embraces the monster inside them and nurtures it to make it more monstrous.  That is what they are offered, and to the lost, it is too appealing to turn down.

The wide, easy road is the road where the prisoner can walk, fostering the very behavior that made him a criminal in the first place.  Radical Islam welcomes the prisoner as the destroyer that he is and offers to mold him into an even more destructive human being in the name of Allah.  When the prisoner makes parole, he goes to any of the 17 known Islamic warfare training camps in America where he is further indoctrinated in hatred and anger until he is finally given his command to act again, this time not as a street gang member or otherwise deviant person, but as an Islamic terrorist.

He is deceived into waging war against flesh and blood, wasting his life on earth, consumed with hatred.  Doomed.

But Christians know the true battle is not against flesh and blood.  The true battle is unseen because it is not occurring in the temporary physical realm, but the eternal spiritual one.  It is fought with weapons of faith, righteousness, truth, love, peace, salvation, and the word of God, which is the sword of the Spirit.  What a stark contrast to the radical Islamic ways of intimidation, manipulation, false testimonies, suicide bombers, mass murder, terror, fear, and hatred.

One is light.  One is darkness. The prisoners will ultimately make their own decision as to which road they will follow, as all of us do.  But if we are not answering the Radical Islam prison visitations with Christian visitations that present them with the truth of the Good News of Jesus Christ and His way, we are failing them.  And God has made it clear in His Holy Word that we are not to forget those in prison, but to remember them and visit them.  Their eternal lives are at stake.  Their impact on other people’s lives is also at stake.

PRAY for the forgotten.  Pray for the men and women in prison, that God would make them able to receive the truth and discern the lie.  Pray that the Lord will call on people to visit those in prison and that those called upon to visit will answer with an emphatic ‘Yes!’  Pray that the truth that “ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” is a concept that the troubled and hurting hearts in prison can accept; that they will understand and accept that their sins, too, are covered by the blood of the Holy Lamb of God Almighty, Jesus Christ; He has already atoned for their sins.  They need only believe.

The Most High God answers fear with peace.  He answers hatred with love.  He answers death with life.  Any other message is false and the responsibility is ours to present the truth to the lost.
